Been at this surgery for over 30 years with no problems but have recently been seriously unwell and following a 1 month stay in hospital I am now in contact regularly with the surgery and have noticed how awful the service is now. It's super difficult to get an appointment. You get interrogated by the receptionist who seems to have been given the responsibility of determining if you really need an appointment or not. They take no notice of hospital discharge paperwork and the recommendations i.e. see your GP within a week of leaving hospital but the receptionist is only offering appointments for 3 weeks away....even though I pointed out what the hospital notes had said.
You generally get offered a call back by the duty doctor if you push that you cannot wait weeks for an appointment. The call from the doctor always happens as promised and you usually then get a same day appointment if deemed urgent by the doc.
They are good at issuing repeat prescriptions and fit note certificates but the appointment process is really letting them down now. Guess this is the struggle for all surgeries these days with the amount of people needing GP services.

Received letter asking me to have a blood test at Hospital then make an appointment for at least one week after b/t to see nurse. In my dreams!
Had blood test then phoned surgery for an appointment. Earliest one available 28th March! When I remarked to the receptionist that it seems daft to send out letters if they cannot provide appointments I was given a lecture on how many patients the surgery has but she did concede that not all of them needed the cardiovascular clinic. Give it time!
